of Britain's champion trees can be found in Ardkinglas
Woodland Garden, including the "Mightiest Conifer
in Europe", a silver fir (Abies alba) with
a girth in excess of 31feet (9.6m) which was selected
as one of 50 Great British Trees to celebrate Queen
Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee.
As well as a stunning display of Rhododendrons
and Azaleas, there is the woodland lochan and
a gazebo which houses a unique "Scriptorium",
somewhere for you to sit and enjoy the view whilst
contemplating the quotes.
The garden is of interest to the plant enthusiast
or those wanting a peaceful woodland walk - watch
out for the red squirrels!
The garden is open daylight hours all year round
and there is an admission fee.
